"New Model No. 15" - Marilyn Manson

Ordinarily I find Marilyn Manson only mildly interesting, but the album this comes from, "Mechanical Animals," is different. The David Bowie and glam influences are vividly evident, and it's strong all the way through.

Interestingly, matching on the word "Model," I was almost about to post Alice Cooper's "Model Citizen" instead, from "Flush the Fashion," which has some parallels to this; shock rocker with a girl-name alias tries on a new style for one album.

”Third Alternative” - Monster Magnet goes with the above but I don’t follow the connection to the previous one

What's the connection? Is it in the lyrics? Because I've gotta admit I'm not enough of a fan of either Winter or Monster Magnet to study both all the way through.

Speaking of which, I've never known whether "Monster" is intended as an adjective, i.e. "very large magnet," or a noun, i.e. "something attractive to monsters." Perhaps Boneman can clarify.

I believe it's a reference to "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet." Speaking of which.

That just pushes the question upstream, though. How did Zappa mean it? "Big magnet" or "attracts monsters"? It's nowhere in the lyrics.

Given Zappa's penchant for horror movies, I think he intended it as a big magnet that is a monster.
