I saw a rare purple Danelectro Longhorn bass on an online retailer's store recently, called them and asked about it. Was going to leave for the afternoon, work a bit to fund my gear card, then come back and make the purchase, but when I came home the listing had been taken down :(

The next day I called and it turns out they had taken it down so no one else would grab it lol. It's on the way!
Is it here yet?

I don't usually care much for Gibby acoustics, but there was a rosewood Gibson Advanced Jumbo at a GC in Kansas that sounded awesome. I would have put it up against any of my 12-fret dreads. I should have bought it, but instead I suffered from "brand name paralysis". Stupid me.

Yes, first of all let me say, I'm sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience at Guitar Center and being a Lefty made it much harder, yes it was a loss I kick myself for even though it was only $400, I don't remember the model but it was a Dreadnaught that Fretted easily for me and the tone sounded and felt good. I went back the next day and it too was gone...My Seagull had flown away! 8-(

One does come to mind - the Nick Valensi Epiphone Elitist Riviera with P-94 pickups, made in Japan by Terada. Only produced in 2005 & 2006, I had the opportunity to buy one new that had been ordered by a local Gibson dealer. I later bought a cheaper Korean version of the same model & it was a nice guitar, but I should have bought the Elitist.

To later heel my wounds, I had to purchase a limited run Gibson ES-335 with P-90 pickups. Cost me a lot more to fix the mistake, but this is what I happily ended up with:

Welcome. Another Lefty. Should @ruedi come help us with the veer?

Late '70s, on vacation in Maine and ran across a near mint early '50s Gibson ES175 at a decent price. I had enough money that with a trade of the Ovation classical/electric I had with me I probably could have gotten it. Of course, then my girl friend would either have been disappointed at the end of the vacation or would have had to foot the entire vacay bill.

So you THOUGHT it had gotten away, but had your name on it.

Cool
I don't know how I missed your response, John, but yes. What had really gotten away was my sensibilities!

One other instance that comes to mind was when I, my wife, and newly born son were visiting in-laws. While my in-laws watched the baby one afternoon, we escaped for a quick lunch and stopped by a MusicGoRound near the restaurant. I ran into an old musician colleague who was trying to sell them his guitar, which they wouldn't buy. This guy had a bit of a reputation for substance abuse issues, and the store buyer wisely opted not to buy it. My buddy saw me and eagerly tried to get me to buy his '74 Les Paul Gold Top. Knowing better, I questioned the provenance, but he kept going lower and lower until he was almost screaming at me. "This is a real 1974 Gibson Les Paul gold top, and you won't buy it for $400?"

I noped outta that situation, but I think about it far too often. Sigh!
