That's the one Cappy and I are talking about. Someone here has one, and I've been trying to describe it to my wife and these guys. The only picture I've got is in an old Guild Gallery magazine.

Hi West,

I should have said do any of you guys HAVE a Custom Shop Valencia, the late 90's, early 2000's, made in Nashville jobs, that you could be persuaded to part with? I had one and need another. If anybody has one thye're willing to sell, put them in touch with me!

Thanks, Randy

there is a F-40 and a F-20 at rainbow guitars for reachable prices, in tucson az. the 40 is tacoma, and has hog b/s, the 20 is westerly, old westerly too, both very nice. the 40 is surprisngly loud, a great fingerpicker.

i think the F-40 is going for 1200 and the 20 for 8-900....i dont know if those are fair prices...guitar shops seem to vary.

for ie, i gave up a 1963 Martin 0-16NY even trade for my F212XL. I felt blessed, but others thought i was mad....

Guild Custom Shop Valencia: Incorporating design elements of the original 1950s F40 and the 1997 45th Anniversary, the 16" Valencia body features solid flame Maple back and rims, a solid AAA Sitka Spruce top with delicate Abalone trim, and the Custom Shop's signature "floating X" scalloped bracing pattern. The hand-shaped five-piece Maple neck has a select Ebony fretboard with Guild's unique "Deco" series fingerboard position inlay. Now available with a hand-bent Florentine cutaway as a special option, the Valencia is offered in Blonde, Antique Burst or Black nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

Hey Tim,

Is that Valencia for sale?

Randy

Sorry Randy, not for sale. Out of curiosity though...how come you want a Nashville build?

@capnjuan

Not sure if im interpreting your post correctly, but the 97 refers to the 45th anniversary guitar. The valencia in the pics are from a 98 build.

Hi Tim: if you say so. I'm only confirming what the text says that appears on the webpage with the posted photo. cj

Hey Tim,

I want the Nashville build because I had one. (stolen) :( Gotta have another. It was exactly like the one Jonatha Brooke plays. I'm sure the Westerleys are just as good, probably better, but to me, that guitar had a really specific sound. I'd jump on a Westerly built Custom Shop Valencia cutaway as well.

OUCH!!! The one unforgivable sin. Stealing another mans guild guitar.

Very sorry to hear that. Did you by chance save the serial #. Maybe one day it will pop up on ebay. You can do the old...can i stop by and check it out. That is with a police escort. lol.

Will certainly let you know if I come across any.

Hey Tim,

Seriously man, DO let me know if you (or anyone else) comes across one of these! Have you ever encountered a Nashville built Custom Shop Valencia? Any idea on production numbers on this one? Any collectors I might try to talk into selling? (yeah, right-- guys who collect needles found in haystacks are into selling them.) IF ANYONE READING HAS ONE, CONTACT ME-- I'LL BUY IT!

Thanks,

Randy

I have not. All I can tell you is what you already know. They are extremely rare.

1998 was the first year of production for the custom shop Valencia. Based on my guitar I can tell you the following regarding the Westerly plant. It was the fourth one made in August of 98. Soley based on that one peice of information we can "guess" that 6 were made that year. Guild moved to the Corona plant sometime in 2001. Assuming six were made each year thereafter and a few made in 2001 we can again "guess" that about twenty valencia's came out of Westerly plant.

Now wether or not we can use this information as some type of guide for the Nashville plant I have no idea. If so the numbers could be around twenty from the nashville plant as well. Cutaway versions being on the lower end of that figure.

Again, total speculation though. If any of these numbers come close to the real figure all it tells us is that the guitar is pretty rare and if/when you do find one...to jump on it.

Tim.

p.s. Do you have the serial number to it? Pictures of the inside? Back of the headstock?
