So yes, that is what 114 instruments looks like.

As those of you that been to my website know, I got my first Guild (T-100D) in 1967 when I was eight years old. While always a fan of Guild guitars I didn't get serious about collecting them until the mid-eighties. When I first started out I had a self-imposed spending limit of $250. Boy do I regret that decision now, but at the time it seemed a good way to keep things in check.

As I started to research the Guild brand I discovered they had produced a lot of different models! It seemed every time Guild was purchased and sold the new ownership would go in a different direction. Now not knowing just how many models there were, I set a facetious goal of having one of every model ever made! I'd guess I'm about a third of the way there! (If somebody in quarantine wants to add them all up, I'm sure we would like to know the number!)

In 2010 I proceeded to photograph all of my instruments in an acceptable format to produce a "Yearbook". I finally had it printed on-line in 2011. There are many of you I met at the LMG functions and were kind enough to sign my "Yearbook. This year I broke out my photo tent and got the photographed the newest pieces. I'm pretty sure at this time I have a photo of all 114. (I still confirming it and no I won't be posting them here!)

But for those of you who would like to see some photos I did compile a couple of video slideshows a few years ago that have most of my collection. So if you're new to LTG and have never seen these, go here:

The Guilds of Grot - Guitars

The Guilds of Grot - Basses

And one last note. While the goal was to have "one of every model" the other part of that was to have an instrument from every year over the span of the collection. I have also failed at that! The missing years are:

1971
1989
1992
1996
1997
1998
1999

As far as what models I don't have but have always wanted, well there are still a lot of them. But since I've never have an excess amount of "disposable income" I didn't/couldn't just buy every instrument I saw. My reasoning was it had to be in good condition and for a reasonable price. (There have been exceptions), But this is why I don't have an Aristocrat, Artist Award or a Brian May.

Lastly, I would like to think I've done OK investment wise although that was really never the purpose. Now of course the question is, when is the right time to sell?

I'm surprised there's not a single Guild from New Hartford in the lot. Many of them at least could have been had for very reasonable prices, if my experiences were any indication.

What a great and quick hour you provided. And loved the slide presentation set to music. I know it will be visited many times-- by me, for sure. Thank you GROT

I'm not even starting with the album at this point because once I start, next thing I know it will be day after tomorrow and i won't have slept and I'll have a beard. So I'll look later, but I sure as hell am gonna look. It's impressive!! Imagine luring someone in with "all my guitars need new strings" and they say, "I'll do it!" So you hire them and take them into the VAULT and you say, "I'll let you out for two hours every third day, okay? Bye!!" and slam the door shut!!! Thanks for sharing these with us. It feeds my soul that you have these....... (y)(y)

Grot, that is extremely impressive! "Dedication" doesn't begin to describe your collection...

Con-grots!

I've ONLY got around 45 Guilds -- all acoustics. (I know, what a piker!)

Grot: a question: in terms of the years that you don't have represented by guitars in your collection, is it your intention to fill those missing years with models you don't already have too? For instance, would you not purchase a D25-M from 1971 (a year you're missing) because you already have one from 1974?

I signed the yearbook!

I really try to not have doubles and in fact have sold a few when a nicer version came along. So yeah, it's got to be the right guitar. Ideally, 1971 would be filled by a Sunburst F-30!

Let me know when you're in Central Jersey and I'll take you over to "The Vault".
