That guitar is beautiful!

So, I've looked for info, but haven't found any. Is there any difference between nightingales and nightbirds of the same vintage, other than the f-holes of course?

the pickguards and pot/switch placement and that's it.

I doubt there would be a significant sonic difference between a nightbird and a nightingale with the same woods, pickups and strings.

only one who owns a comparable couple can tell. hans?

That's what I thought. My '87 nightbird looks just like your nightingale, including the pickguard and hardware. Knob and switch locations are different. It did look just like nightbird's nightingale (post #1) until I replaced the EMG's with HB-1's. That was one of the best days of my life!

there was, but unfortunately it is no longer available.

in short form nightingale and nightbird both have a largely chambered mahogany body and neck with the same size. the early ones have massive carved spruce tops, the later ones maple.
nightingales always had a n ebony fretboard, some nightbirds also a rosewood board. in '86/'87 they have been the most expensive guild electrics (except the AA). only 87(2?) of the early nightingales have been made and around 800 nightbirds until 1996 if I remember correctly.

What pickups did they sport ? Seems a few different options have been mentioned in this thread.

they have been the most expensive guild electrics

So I am not going to find a good deal on one, am I ? Ah well.
