@vates I'm not sure if I'm adding anything valuable here, but there was some recent purchases of Gabojo pickups here on LTG that I think were well-liked. I don't know if these P-90-ish models have been tried, but maybe you could mate them with a Newark Street Aristocrat model and build something great. I don't know. Just a thought.

Thanks for the idea! I'm more interested in guitars though.
I have a few different sources of great P90 pickups already.
So if I find a good Bluesbird with P90s, I have plenty of options to replace the awful overwound SDs :)

To summarize this thread.

The general opinion here is that '90s-'00s era Bluesbirds with P90s are the way to go.
Pickups replacement is what I had in mind already. It's a very personal thing anyway.

Other models are one-offs or rare as hen's teeth (and are mostly hidden deep in the vault of GAD anyway).
Plus, the proprietary Franz pickups are not the same size as Gibson P90s, so older models are probably a no-go too.

Again, thanks everyone for your ideas!

The search engines are loaded ;)

Wow! I remember taking that picture. I think I still own all the guitars in that picture except the blond Guild Crossroad guitar with the zebra humbucker. That is the only Crossroads I ever seen that had a passive pickup combined with an active surface contact pickup. I also acquired a red Crossroad with active EMG neck pickup and it had a slightly different looking electronics package.
That picture shows the P90 "Nightingale" with the ivory P90 covers prior to I installed the Guildsby.
That picture also show the red Custom Shop SF4 with 3 P90. I have been considering installing vintage DeArmond 2000 on it.

Yeah, that P90 Nightingale checks all the boxes. However, it's a one-off, made by an ex-factory worker, as far as I understand.

I'm sorry, I lost the train here somewhere... Which guitar are you talking about here? Do you have a link?

For reference here are pictures of my Blues 90 and a Bluesbird 90. I had the Blues 90 for sale here a couple of times but it didn't sell.

Yeah, I've re-joined this forum a bit too late. You've already traded your emerald green Blues 90.

That Bluesbird 90 is a beaut though!
I you decide to let this bird go - please, drop me a line. Thanks!

For your consideration….

I can’t read the description because it won’t show up on my phone (thanks ebay engineers) but it’s a pretty one and decent price.

More info on the seller
