Hey all! It has been a long while since I've posted here. Life, kid, pandemic, yadda yadda. Hope all are doing well and after a brief review the 'usual suspects' are still active here I see!
I'm thinking of selling the ONE that I swore that I would never sell. I have sold all of my guitars and guitar related equipment with the exception of one acoustic (this M20), one electric, and one amplifier. Long story short I seem to be unable to play health-fully because of a left (fretting) hand problems. Every time I try to play I end up paying the price and this has been going on for quite awhile now. It is beginning to seem silly for me to keep feeding and watering a guitar that I can no longer enjoy. Anywhoodles....
I wrote about this one here on LTG way back when...it has a Hoboken label indicative of 1965?....but Hans told me that this is a 1968. I bought it out of an estate where it had been stored for untold years in its original case underneath a bed in Carmel, CA. In my opinion it shows an unbelievable physical condition with VERY little play. Some (likely a kiddo at that time now 50+ year old) got ahold of it before me and strummed across the face of the guitar and in the right light you can see these wide pick marks none of which break the finish (and which might be remedied but I have never tried). I've always believed the frets to be original and fretboard to be braz but you be the judge. The headstock laminate is just starting to peel up a titch but hasn't changed during my ownership. I had the neck reset by one of my city's authorized Martin repair shops and he did a great job, however, he did crack the neck heel in the process. He did a good job fixing the heel cosmetics and it is barely noticeable to the naked eye...but under flash photography you can see the damage. Importantly, his neck reset geometry and job are great and the guitar has been rock solid for me and stays in tune. Tuners are original and functional if not a bit stiff/old. If the issue during neck reset had not occurred, this would otherwise be the best condition M-20 that I have ever seen. It frankly still is in stunning condition albeit with this 'ding' on its resume.
I have the original case which appears like new but which I store on a shelf for safe-keeping. I bought a modern OEM Guild hard shell case for it years ago to give it a safe home. Both cases can certainly go with the guitar, however, that will likely require two shipments for both cases to get to a destination. I likely bought/sold guitars here years ago (check old posts?) but honestly cannot recall. I'd like to get the best price possible and quite frankly am unsure of the current value. I know that I have some money into this one and I'd like to get some money out of this one...so please be patient with me. I know that rules require a list price so $2200.
Feel free to reach out. I'm easy for phone, video chat, email etc. Looking for a fair and honest deal. I'm located in Kansas City. Here are photos of the guitar taken earlier and guitar remains as photographed. I'm happy to take new photos or do a video walk-through with interested persons.
