The Sheriton is just brutally heavey for my back, pure maple blonde but so heavy...played a Fender Thinline a while ago, but not for long...was smitten, and this (not a Fender) one has updated tuners, and a humbucker in the bridge...its a blonde too....looking forward to a new musical chapter... Steffan :D

Re: Trading my Sheriton 335 for tele thinline....

While I don't own one, I was lucky enough to borrow my friends '76 Tele Thinline for a few weeks. I really liked it, so much that i am thinking about custom building one. it definitely has a different sound to it than the solid body Tele's. The vintage humbucker in the neck was super warm and full of tone. It was a lot lighter than a regular tele as well. I think you would really like it, seemed pretty versatile to me.

Re: Trading my Sheriton 335 for tele thinline....

Hi Steffan; I have a Mehico thinline ... not sure what year ... probably 5-6 years old. Right now, it needs attention that I haven't been willing to give it but it's light, plays easily, and even with factory pickups it sounds pretty good. already having a humbucker hollow body, I was after more single-coil tingly twang. Don't know how serious you are ... but if you don't have an hb guitar, the setup on the linked guitar is pretty nice. If it plays and sound good and given what the run-of-the-mill factory model like mine costs new, I think you'd be getting more guitar than the same money would bring you in a new one.

Re: Trading my Sheriton 335 for tele thinline....

The doggone Sheriton is ALL maple, and the case must be steel reinforced...just brutally heavy. I like the size fit and sound of the thinline I played, and 'this one has the 'best and smoothest tuners I've ever used' according to the owner, and he is also throwing in some emg vintatge humbuckers (2) and a very wide strap that he says now that he is fat, holds the guitar just under his chin... nice guy...and so with 490s on the Epi, and including the Epi tuners....we're both happy....the EMG pickups came off an old washburn from the 70s or 80s....I'll probably put them on my Silvertone '335'.... :D Steffan

Re: Trading my Sheriton 335 for tele thinline....

Its actually a Dillion 'hand crafted'. made in Korea. maple bolt on neck with Gotoh 510 chrome tuners and a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the neck and a sustain that never quits.....great action fit and finish...Not a Fender though....maybe better??? body is mahogany with a thin sheet of maple with a nice wave type pattern on the top...A1 excellent shape......very easy to play, and an old school rectangular hard shell case with yellow plush lining....Still a wee bit heavy but not bad, and very nicely balanced...so there you have it.....Pictures in 1st post... :D Steffan
