I just picked up one of these portable digital recorders.

My plan is to use it to:
Capture song ideas. I tend to find a lyric or a riff, noodle around, then quickly forget it.
Use it as a learning tool. It can slow down a passage but stay in pitch, loop, etc.. Good for practicing riffs over a chord pprogression or, a big help for me, figuring out a harmonica break.

Any body else use this or something like it? Any tips and tricks appreciated!!

Hi evenkeel - I bought one this past December for myself and my son. He used it to make a Christmas CD fo the family (he plays piano). You need to get close to the built in microphone, but otherwise it works great - unreal how simple it is to use. I tried it at a gig in a large room, and it did not work as well - I still need to work on how to get somethig like that to work better - I think it was more of my problem than the recorder's, I need to find the right placement for it in that situation.
