I have an extra guitar that wasn't getting a lot of play.
While thinking about selling it and getting a 12 fret or shorter scale guitar,
it occurred to me to try something that I have never tried before.
The guitar is now tuned 1/2 step down.
This gives me a shorter neck when I capo the guitar back up to standard tuning.
The side affect that is a bonus is that I have a lot of songs that have become a bit high for my aging vocal chords.
By leaving the guitar tuned down 1/2 step, it makes these songs more comfortable to sing.
My 12 string guitars live their lives between standard tuning and tuned down a whole step.
Never was a fan of the tone of the lowered 12 string so back to standard it would go.
Well what do you know?
The 12 string sounds very good when tuned down 1/2 step and again works well with my vocals.
Not sure how long the honeymoon will last but so far, I really like having these two guitars tuned down 1/2 step.
29er may want to try this tip before selling his guitar
