I tucked an old nut that I had hanging around into its place, perfect fit...the truss rod nut is loosened right off...positioned the rosewood bridge and tuned her up....played for a while, it has an unwound G string, and too light for my liking ...the strings are a bit rusty...I don't know the make of them, or the year...really...there are some minor divots in the 1st 2 or 3 positions and it looks almost scalloped, like the were really deep and they evened out the wood and the frets are almost on a Ridge......hmmmm I mean ridge...I don't think the plug was making a good contact, it sometimes buzzed . but settled in a bit, same as the switch for the pickups...which are the Mickey mouse ones...so a bit of glue here and there binding issues, tuner spray new strings and I'm flyin' high. I love the feel of this lightweight, and the old style chesterfield...metal truss rod cover, probably 1 5/8 nut....and If you close your eyes and see with your hands you might not actually realize the head was once broken...everything on it is original...except maybe the strings, those I'm not sure of, but unless someone wants to buy some really vintage strings, I think they are not long for this world....now to start wiping some of this vintage grime or dirt or atmosphere from years of club atmosphere.....clean up time to start, I'm delighted that everything is at least intact....more later....this thing is going to be amazing, I can tell....Steffan

Just a couple of weeks ago I had to sell my slightly beaten '66 T-100D. It had mickey mouse pups too. I got good money but still I'm not happy about it. Your story has given me a bit of a lift though. Do we get to see pics, even if they will be of the "before" variety?

Thanks Steffan - so it is not a mystery guitar after all - I should have been paying more attention! That looks like a great resto job and I am totally with you about it being worth it for the mojo and all that. That black one does look beautiful and as you say those fret inlays set it off beautifully. Dark green would work too.

If dark green was one of the readily available colors....there wouldn't be a choice......Played a green one one time back aroune 1970....pure desire that never did leave........

Oh YES!
I saw a green SF-IV on eBay some time ago - they do get around, although quite rare.
I'm sure you've seen Hammer's beautiful green s-100 too. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/ ... C00826.jpg
Yum.

I'm seriously thinking of re-finishing my Strat in a similar green. Easy enough to do using paint, but it would be nice have grain showing through as well and I'm not sure how to go about that. Maybe not such a big deal with a Strat actually - but with a hog body I'd like to see the grain.

Are you planning to do re-fin work yourself?
