Great photos of a whale shark somewhere off the coast of Mexico. Looks about a 40-50 footer.

Stills from a recent documentary about a hunt for "giant sharks" in the Sea of Cortez.
Whale sharks are actually plankton eaters. The researchers concluded that the sightings of giant sharks were probably mis-identified whale sharks. Still, there were a couple of sightings of "ones that got away" without being positively identified, leaving open the possibility that prehistoric giant sharks may actually be present at great depths in the areas around Baja California.
Don't forget the coelecanth... 8)
And thanks Scott for another "true nature" post. :)

My pleasure. The Ocean is my playground. Mini lobster season coming up in just days. They call it a Mini season because they give the public 2 days to rape and pillage before the Commies (commercial fishermen) set their traps on August 1st. Get ready for lobster bisque, lobster cakes, broiled lobster, lobster dip, fried lobster.......anybody got three hundred lemons and 12 pounds of butta? Some of my "bugs" from previous years. Not so Mini. The Miami Vice looking guy is my bud Larry, that pic is from the late 80's. The other two are last year. They are the roaches of the sea but i love em!

Confirms my hypothesis: We're at the bottom of the food change in the ocean. Great pics though.

Peace
