Their "biz casual" look is pretty forced. Looks like they had a tie on, and took it off! All white and light blue shirts - they all NEED a nice tie!!

For an equity firm like this, they look out of place without a tie, and a few even look quite lost. These kind of companies often have a strict dress code, although not as strict as in the past.
I like your simple goals! I wear a tie less and less, I just hope I can remember how to tie it if I need to wear one.

I hear ya and been there done that. It always changes and they always gut the fish.In my experience investment firms never improve anything but their own bottom lines, and they will do so at any cost.
Of course, I tend to have an embittered grouchy outlook on such things, but that's only because I've seen it happen 100 times.
I am always happy to be proven wrong.
I'm not going to identify the company, and they are investment managers and not venture capitalists but these folks don't need ties. I will not identify which one(s?) are LTG Members.
How many?Nice! They clearly are comfortable in their outfits! Much smaller firm probably, and I wonder if the guy in the purple shirt (an LTGer? a Prince fan?) would get a job at Providence Equity. Since they all are dressed alike at Providence - really similar, see photo - he will stand out like John DeLorean at General Motors (bonus points if you get that reference).
Yeah beards have had a hard time living down that pirate thing.I'm generalizing of course, as we all are, but you would be surprised at the things my students have told me over the years about dress codes at financial firms in particular. Dress codes are still an issue today. Or this - just this past December, I had a Finance senior tell me that at the end of his interview with HR (he was professionally dressed in a suit and tie), the HR person gave him a "heads up" that he should shave his beard off before his interview with the VP of Finance the next day, as he expected all his employees to be clean shaven. Wow.

Zoom meetings?Yes, I have a few Beatles ties and Garcia ties I wear to class (among others), but only in the cold weather - they keep my neck warm! And, if I do say so, I look rather good in them...
However, no ties lately as I am teaching remotely to stay safe.
From "the usual source": "At a time when business executives were typically conservative, low-key individuals in three-piece suits, DeLorean wore long sideburns and unbuttoned shirts."10 bonus points for the DeLorean knowledge, Al. They will be applied as soon as I figure out what to apply them to. I have my vintage paperback copy of "On a Clear Day You Can See General Motors" in my office, but I haven't been there in 16 months...
Zoom meetings?
Actually he did all the original designs. They've been released in numbered "collections" ever since '92 but not all of 'em are based on his artwork, and there's actually 2 makers. Only Stonehenge used Jerry's art, the other ones drew off Grateful Dead imagery, capsule history here:I'm glad to learn about Jerry Garcia's ties . I like ties for their variety of material/designs... Did Jerry Garcia design one?
