There's a hole in the bottom of the water
There's a hole there's a hole where the money all goes,
There's a hole in the bottom of the water"

I also think it's entirely possible that TE plays and practices more than likely each and every day....probably for several hours a day. And because he does, and with his God given talent and ear, he probably picks up on small details the rest of us would never hear.

Right, "bored" was my usage, for more colorful speech, he said "gets used to".
Let's see if this analogy works to explain what I'm getting at:
You have a pine 2x4 about a foot long that your toddler beats on with a spoon all the time.
Just loves the sound.
After a while the surface has been kind of dented up by all that beating and just doesn't sound like it used to.
But you give the kid a new spoon and it sounds different.
But after a while the same old thing happens, the new spoon puts its own new set of impressions on the wood and it doesn't sound like it used to.
Time for a new spoon.
Or maybe even the old one again.
Not that I suggest stringing your guitar up with old spoons.

I used to buy strings in bulk sets.[one dozen sets at a time]
By the time that I got through 8 or 9 sets, when I changed strings, the new set didn't sound that new or fresh.
I blamed it on the strings having a shelf life and that they had passed it.
I would try a different brand and the guitar was back to itself.

I even went so far as to give the last few sets of the bulk strings away.
The people that used these strings liked them and didn't think that they sounded out of date.

It was then that I also decided that either the guitar or my ear was not liking the sound of the strings.
I quit buying in bulk and now will purchase up to 3 sets at a time and then change brand or string material for a few sets.
I go back and forth between PB Martin and Retro Martin strings with an occasional D'Addario sets thrown in.

I am a believer that changing string brand or build material is a good thing, at least to my ear.
