I have been using D'Addario EXP Lights for several years and I'm ready for a change.
I have tried the Elixor 80/20's several years ago but I didn't like the tone or the way the strings freyed.
I like the idea of coated strings for my 12 string, so what are some good string choices?

TMG, did you use the Elixirs with "polyweb" or "nanoweb" coating? Reason I ask is that the polyweb is a thick coating which feels slick under your fingers but is notorious for fraying in strips. The nanoweb fray much less -- like the EXPs you can barely tell they're coated.

FYI, I've been using D'Addario non-coated PB lately on my F512. They've been lasting a lot longer than I expect -- I think raw PB strings do live longer compared to 80/20.

I used the poly strings. They hadn't come out with nano's yet.
I may try some PB Nano's this time.
They do make Nano PB's don't they?

I have been buying bulk sets from "Euphonon Strings" for my 6 string guitars lately.
I may have to give them a try for some non coated 12 string sets.
Under $30.00 for 6 sets of 12 string PB lights delievered to my door.
The only problem with these strings is that they are bulk and not packaged.
I would have to be careful to put the right strings in the right places.

$30 for 6 sets of 12-strings.... That is worth the hassle of sorting the strings. I'll have to look into that.

I do think Gore makes at least one set of Elixir nano PBs for the 12er. I'm not positive. They're around $20 a set retail, if I recall...

Could be your instrument is a little too defined for my usual recipie of three sets of Dean Markley .010 BlueSteels, but then not as brutally so as Elixirs. These will last you a great while too.

When it comes to treated strings the way I see it there are only 2... no 3 strings that are worthy of their names. That would be the DMS Alchemy, The Gibson... what-ever-the-name and those new Cleartones... None of that Elixir style nylon-stocking thing
