So after years of procrastination I finally changed strings on one of my 12 strings. And now just one of the B strings has a very strong buzz only at the first fret, the other is fine. I slackened it and made sure nut slot is clean and it is seated right. When slackened I noticed that the string has a kink around the spot where it would sit on the fret wire. Could this be the cause of buzz and can this be fixed or need to replace the string?

Are there any other potential causes?

Easiest thing to do is swap the string. I wouldn’t even worry about the guitar until that’s done.

I did not want to unseal a new package so replaced with a used strings. Fixed the buzz but not pretty besides the shiny new strings. Wonder if I did the kink or manufacturer.
