Just wondering why I've seen strap pins put on the side of a f512 or f412 just above the heel. Does it have something to do with the weight or balance of the guitar? Is there a block or some other inside support. I have my pins put on the lower side of the heel on my martin 6&12 stringers.

It's because the strap is less likely to come off accidently in that position. Makes sense to me, although mine are both in the center of the heel cap

I figure if you play REALLY well no one is gonna notice where your strap button is. Which is why mine has to be placed PERFECTLY.......

Mine are all over the place too, But it never has been much of an issue. especialy acoustically.....Most all of my playing is whilst sitting down........and my usual audience is two dogs, a cool cat, and the occasional family members.

This is roughly where Breedlove wants them installed on their instruments, for what it's worth.

For my guitars that don't have a factory-installed strap button, I picked up a couple of these Martin strap straps.

Sure wish they had a Guild logo on them instead.

Yes on some guitars there is an internal reinforcement block.

It's a topic that was discussed many times here at LTG, just do a search for strap button. Many people have many different opinions...

Bing, Just for chips and giggles.......WHY? 8)[/quote:3n3r5ruf]

I'll speak for him, but there are a couple of topics that seem to reoccur often and get beaten to death with no new information - Just the usual suspects posting what they said last time the topic came up. Where to put a strap button is one of those topics with the ancillary topics about drilling holes in new guitars and alternative's to strap buttons usually getting mixed in.
