I must disagree. If the headstock tie is good enough for Neil, it's good enough for me.

I suppose if I had a vintage Martin D-45 I'd be rather reluctant to drill a hole in it too....

I like the position of my guitars (more centered) when I use a strap tied to the headstock near the nut. Using a strap button shifts it and not in a good way. But that's a personal thing.

Exactly - I am the opposite, headstock strap does not work for me.

I say drill, it’s a tiny hole, but will provide years of easy playing standing up. If you never want to stand and move around while you play, well then I suppose you’d never need one, but since the question was asked, that’s my advice, oh and #5
