That really sucks. I hope they get caught and you get your instruments back.
If not, will insurance cover your loss?

Hey Mando,

Sorry to hear about this, was that all they took, a couple of mandolins ? Would have thought they would have taken something more saleable ? Anyway hope you get your gear back.

Cheers, Ian

They also got the keys & took my 2006 Ford Escape, DVD recorder, Bluray home theatre system, & computer moniter.

Before I got my notices posted online, I had emails from two guitar stores in the next town north, due to my ads last winter trying to sell the Breedlove. Guitar center manager says he has a name & address for the girl trying to sell it, so maybe they're about to be caught. Other guy also has at least a description. I gave both stores the Sheriff department's case number.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Perhaps the thieves are not smart enough to realize that there is a unique serial number on each instrument, and they will get caught.

That's terrible Mando. I hope the police can track them down and get all of your stuff returned.
Not intending to sound snarky, but in this area at least, they simply don't have enough manpower to actively look for stuff like this, unless you've got an idea for 'em about a suspected perpetrator for example.
Why I suggested keeping an eye out on pawnshops, fleamarkets, craigslist, you get my drift.. Ya gotta help yourself a little.
Putting in the report with the s/n's will help 'em find you if they bust a fence house though, or give you some credibility if you spot 'em someplace and need to call the cops in.
Maybe you know all this, but it couldn't hurt to mention.

Good luck Elrod. I hope they catch the mutts that did this.

Wishing you the best, Mando. Man, that really sucks.

After this nastiness subsides, and hoping you get your axes back, it might be good to do the insurance thing, at least for the instruments. I know we've discussed that before here, and I believe there are one or two companies that will do that for you independently of your home or renter's insurance. I think they require appraisals, though, but a neighborhood store could probably provide that for you for a tiny fee.

In any case, I really hope they catch these losers and you see your mandos again!

There used to be a stolen guitar registry. I can't remember the exact name, but I had talked the administrator in to joining here a few years ago. Can't remember his name either....it's been a while, but I'll look. It certainly wouldn't hurt to list your mando with a site like that. I wish you luck.

Elrod,

I'm so sorry about your loss. It's like loosing a dear friend...always there through the good times, through the bad times. We love our musical instruments...they become a part of us. So, so sorry. Hope they are recovered (in perfect condition) and the thieves are caught. Glad to hear the music stores in your area are helping, as well.

Best of luck, MS. Keep us posted, we're cheering for you.

That looks like a good resource, Jim. I can't think of a particularly good way to keep that information alive on the site, but I'll add the URL to the FAQ thread.
