That is just horrible! I have read too many craigslist "stolen gear" ads to stomach. One of the reasons I recently insured my guitars. No it won't replace the sentimental value, but at least it will put you on the right track to recovery.

Guitars should be built with a tracking chip in them....

That's actually an interesting idea but it will take a while before the infrastructure is there to support it. Just look at how many cars do not have Lo-Jack or something similar even though there are people who have cars that are worth more than their guitars.

I think they could embed a chip, like they do in a dog,....and advertise that "our guitars are equipped with an anti-theft device....you could just take it to a vet to get the info.....but then the cost of the vet might outweigh the value of the guitar.... :? Steffan
The low jack I think is activated by the company when the item is stolen, and within that municipality the police have access... is that right?
Something like this that could be activated externally instead of by motion...would be excellent.... http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/car-g ... cking.html
