Yet another Guild review from that wordy bastard over in New Jersey!

This time it's for the 2002 Guild Starfire IIIP-90. Well, two of them, really. This has been sitting about 80% done for months and since I recently traded one of my P90-equipped Starfires to Default, I figured I should finish the damn thing before I sell the other one. Hint: I doubt I'll ever sell the other one!

Here's the review: http://www.gad.net/Blog/2016/09/07/2002-guild-starfire-iiip-90/

Gratuitous Guild-porn pic to go with it:

I've added it to the GADsGuilds.com page as well.

As always, feel free to tell me where I got it wrong.

Thanks!

Nice review but you also left out the Starfire IIIs that came with DeArmonds and (for a brief time) with Franz pickups.

Have you thought about getting a Newark Street and mounting P90s on it? wouldn't the Dogears or risers cover the rout?

I'm no Hans - I just write about what my feeble mind remembers at the time. :) Actually, I'm guilty of discounting most of the 1960s and 1970s variations because the necks are so tiny that they never work for me. It's a good point. I'll add a blurb about them. Actually, I don't know that I've ever seen a Starfire III with Franz pickups...

I probably wouldn't do the NS thing you suggested because my Westerly SFIII is just so perfect. It's an interesting idea, though.

Enjoyed that, GAD! Very informative and entertaining!

I, too, always removed pick-guards from any semi- or hollow body guitar - got in my way, and I wanted to see the finish.

BTW, don't know if you care, but a typo is in there if you want to fix it:

"On the LetsTalkGuild.com, forum, we call a Guild-branded Bidgby a Guildsby because we’re all just clever that way."

Keep the blogs coming!

Nice review...wow, that's a gorgeous gtr!

count me amongst those who can't abide w a pickguard on a SFII or SFIII! I have a '66 SFII and though i really dug the look of it w the pickguard mounted when i first got it, after the first gig i played w it on....into the drawer it went!

THat is a sweet SF and got that chunky neck. Or at least to me a normal neck.

What a beautiful burst. I'm keeping the l'il HB's on my red SF3 (NS). I'll likely only be using neck p'up anyway. Smooth, warm.

About two years ago there was a blond Starfire 3 w/ P-90's in excellent+ condition listed in the "for sale" section of all places, the Telecaster Forum. As I recall, the price was just under 1k. I could still kick myself for not jumping on a steal like that.

Nice! At that price it could be worth the financing of a time machine. :fat:
