I've been looking for an original SF-XII for a long time, never found the right one and the longer it takes the pricier they get, to the point that the cost of finding a nice one now is more than I want to put into it. So, I'm looking at the new version. Got excited when I first heard they were coming out but was disappointed that they went to a stop tailpiece instead of the harp, I know it's probably better but it loses some of the old vibe. Wondering if someone with an original could measure the nut width, the new version is 1.675" which is just a little wider than the Ric's 1.63" width that I never could get used to. I went through two Rics, the first one was too narrow and for some reason I thought the second would be better (it wasn't). So, hoping that the new Starfire with a little more room at the nut and also the typical 12-string layout might just work for me. If the old version nut width is the same as the new, that would help me decide.

I'm also thinking that it could be possible to install a harp tailpiece, knowing that the stud holes would have to dealt with somehow but not sure how to get the ground wire to the bottom.

Thanks for any help!

Not an answer to your question, but, the Ric 660/12 has a 1 3/4" nut.

I ended up with an Eko solidbody 12 that I think is 1 7/8" . I love Guilds but even a lot of the 6 string guitars are too narrow for me.
