Some Guild content. I started picking through my collection of little used gear & decided to start trying to move some of it to help finance my summer passion.

Here are my local craigslist ads.

Not listed but contemplating: My well worn JF-30, OR a JF-55 that I just finished a neck reset, but still needs a bit of touch up work. Both are players & not pristine.

Speaking of selling gear to buy a boat.....

What kind of boat are you talking about? Having just bought a place overlooking Lake Pend Oreille, Mrs. Cougar and I will also be thinking about a boat before too long. Some months ago we rented a pontoon boat, which was fun. Last time up we rented a small ski-type boat. We liked the pontoon better. Then Mrs. Cougar got the bright idea (?) of a small houseboat. IOW, we're still thinking about it.... :witless:

Cougar casts into the shallows as Mrs. Cougar pilots the pontoon....

Something for the Great Lakes with a decent cabin for up to 4 people. I had a 24' for years & spent most weekends slipped in South Haven, MI. Salmon fishing is another prerequisite. Just sold a 26' that was to the point of needing more sweat equity than I (or my boys) was willing to invest.

This is to my liking:

No offense, but Mrs. Cougar is a whole lot prettier than you I do believe.

Quite! She had me from when I first saw her photo on the internet. We met in person for the first time in New Orleans. I asked her to marry me two weeks later. She said yes right then and there!

Hey, even Peter Townshend sold a bunch of precious guitars to finance a 49 ft sailboat in 1989, including two D'Angelicos, and original Gibson Flying V, and the Guild Merle Travis Solo Master....

Boat? I sold mine and bought guitars instead.

Unlike the boat I used to own (a 17-foot Carolina Skiff) I can use my guitars every day, they don't need all that much maintenance, they don't take up much space, and I can throw a few in the back of my car when I go in vacation.

Yeah, I hear the hole to throw money in... too much work for such a short season... comments all the time. For me, having grown up on & around the Great Lakes & boats of every size & shape, it's more of a therapeutic escape. I've experienced more peace & renewal while working my butt off on a boat than doing just about anything else in life. And the payoff, though limited by the season, is well worth it for me.

Don, that's cool that you've got a handle on it. We all need stuff in our life like that even if it seems at times like more of a pain than it's worth.

One of my best friends has three kids in college and a 20-yr-old SeaRay in his driveway that isn't sea-worthy. I've told him to get rid of the boat (sell it or sink it) so it's not tempting him and then buy another someday when he can see his way clear to buy a new one. For him, he's unable to spend the time or money on it that it needs, and I see that as painful and slightly self-destructive.

Now, if he could put some love into it and get a few days on the water with it, it'd indeed be well worth it.

Don't you have some sort of neighborhood association to help encourage him to do the right thing?

Actually, Al, all he has to do is put it in the water and the rest will happen automatically. :) :) No mobs, pitchforks, or torches needed! :)

I can't see what you're selling, or are there any left? I'm scoping an f412 or similar, looked at a few.
