A couple of shots of some guitar-themed scenery in downtown Minneapolis that I thought I'd share. The first shows the close proximity of the Hard Rock Cafe and the venerable First Avenue nightclub, located across the street from one another.

The black painted exterior of First Avenue is decorated white stars featuring the names of bands and performers who have played there.

And the second was part of a display highlighting the new home for ad agency Gabriel deGrood Bendt (GdB). They had these black-and-white displays of what GdB could mean, like Golfers doning Brassieres, but I like this one the best.

Just thought I'd share, for whatever it's worth (and that's probably not much).

Nice photo. The Hard Rock in Toronto is across the street from an enormous retail mall, but in the other direction it's only a block from the Imperial Pub, one of the last jazz venues in town :D

It's nice to see some witty, inventive use of electronic signs :D

Some remnants of the snow. It's been very warm (for mid-February) the past week, although we are supposed to get more snow this weekend. But still, snow in February and March is easier to take because you know it will be gone soon.

Trust me on this...America was strictly an importer of the white stuff..but maybe you meant all that "image" stuff we so shamelessly flaunted..
BTW did you know Sonny Crockett's Ferrari Daytona was a kit car on Corvette chassis?
Did you recognize Jan Hammer as the keyboardist on "Wired"? Or was that a little before you discovered Mr. Beck?
(end of veer) :D

Yeah I was referring to the "image" stuff, you know the sharing of National cultural heritage from one continent to the other.... :D
I had no idea about the ferrari kit car.
Yes, I became a Jan Hammer (and Max Middleton) fan thanks to Mr Beck and two of his master pieces: "Wired" and "Blow by Blow"!....

So...we got LeCar, and you got McDonald's? Not sure if there's a clear equality of exchange, there...

No McDonald is yours too, we only added beer to the menu (soda with food is a no no where I come from).

Soda's a no-no, period, in my house.
But what I meant was, we sent you McDonalds, and you sent us LeCars...and I'm still not sure if either country got the better of the deal.
Except, well, that Le Car Turbo (Renault R5 turbo) turned out to be the very first "pocket rocket" :D

Ahhh, that 's what you meant.... well, if "Le Car" is all you got from us, allow me to apologize on behalf of my Home Nation then. But if I remember well, the turbo version you mentioned was doing pretty good in rally racing. Does rally racing even exist in the US?

We got a street version: the Le Car Turbo. Not sure, but I don't think the US ever had an FIA World Rally Championship segment like they did Formula One.
For some reason Americans seem to be obsessed with going fast in circles. Or rounded-off triangles at best.
The SCCA sponsors rally events though, strictly for privateers.
MInneapolis looks like it would be a lot of fun for an ice rally. :D

The Minneapolis Hard Rock Cafe is slated to close on Sept. 30....
Too bad they didn't tie in with a legitimate Indian Tribe; one with a gamling license.

The Hard Rock Cafe And Casino in Hollywood FL, southwest Broward County, owned in the majority by the Seminole Indians, is a money machine.

You know those pics of those Las Vegas fountains? The Hard Rock Cafe/casino is a fountain too ... it shoots out money.
