I am reluctantly putting this fine guitar up for sale. Ultimately I can’t live with the 1 5/8 neck. I really tried, but I need something wider.
i cannot exaggerate how beautiful this tobacco sunburst is. It is the best I’ve ever seen.
you can read about this very guitar and see excellent photos in former owner GAD’s review here:
https://www.gad.net/Blog/2016/11/26/1980s-guild-x-500
as he said when I bought it, it’s not mint, but neither is the price: $1,500 plus actual shipping and insurance.
includes original HS case.
please be aware there are a couple of small flaws, but nothing major, or even immediately visible.
I want to do as GAD did, and keep this fine instrument in the LTG family. If it doesn’t sell here, it’s going on Reverb for substantially more $$.
note: I put a bigger MV knob on, but the original is in the case

What a beauty! If I was more of a jazz player I'd be driving up the 101 to Ventura right now. (or perhaps tomorrow-less traffic)
But alas, this guitar is not the right fit for me.

A drive to Ventura sounds nice. We have a favorite restaurant there. And an x500. I'm an inch from dibs
I would much rather hand it over in person than ship it…

Sigh....That is so much the guitar I would like to say I have. I would drive to Ventura to try and buy. But, I'll just almost done having COVID, and I wouldn't want to risk anyone on my NOT being contagious. I suspect someone here will snap it up before I have a clean bill of health and can put a sock in the logical side of my brains mouth, so to speak.

The logical side of your brain should be able to devise a scheme to trade cash for the x500 without getting closer than 6 foot. They do that sort of thing with hostages all the time.

What a beautiful guitar.

> Just read GAD’s review so answered my own question. It must sound wonderful!

Is this the guitar from GAD's review that has mention of a finish crack in the neck heel area? It was noted to have no adverse effects on the neck or joint.

No, that was the other guitar, in the review the ‘86

Ah thank you. I became a little confused as to which was which. So does that also mean this guitar is the one without the sound block under the bridge?

Shihan, old chum, I find myself thinking about your guitar. A couple of questions:

1) The neck width is 'dead on' at 1 5/8ths inches at the nut, or is that an approximation? I remember having a single small humbucker CE-100 in music school at CCNY. I could play rhythm okay, but lead stuff to a little while to ramp up to. Oh well, only 45 years ago.

2) Is this Hatted Fraus' old geetar? GAD's guitar? Both? Just wondering...

3) How much do you think the shipping would be to the Dallas Fort-Worth area? Again, you don't have to know exactly. An approximation would help.

4) I have one relative in Los Angeles, but I don't know that she understands how to treat a padded box with a guitar in it. "Yeah, if fell out of my car a couple times. Is that bad?" :)

Hi Gilded,
1.) I’m using GAD’s measurement of the neck as dead on 1 5/8. It certainly feels like that to me. I know GAD to be a pretty meticulous guy. It plays flawlessly; but I have big hands and fat fingers.
2.) I bought it from GAD, before that I don’t know.
3.) I can’t give you a shipping quote; I haven’t shipped any guitars recently, so I can’t even guess.
4.) as I stated before, I would much rather hand this guitar over personally than ship.
Hope that helps
Dennis
