Hello LTG Friends,

First of all, this 1970 S-100 was my first Vintage Guitar, and this forum has been extremely valuable in gaining knowledge, and I appreciate all the input I’ve received from folks here.

With that said, the time has come for me to sell my lovely Lefty 1970 S-100 with Tremar.

The guitar is all original, except that I have had it refretted and a new nut installed. The work is outstanding. I know everyone says this, but this one plays and feels amazing. Lightweight, strings bend easily, setup and intonation are perfect.

I would not be selling this, but I am moving several things to fund a large purchase. I am selling another guitar, but as it’s a non Guild, I am not sure if I’m allowed to discuss here. It a vintage Str@t.

Here are some pics of the S-100. I am asking $2,500 plus shipping, which is less than I have into it, especially considering the fretwork and setup. I think this is a fair price and I’m pretty firm on it, as I will happily keep it if it can’t raise sufficient funds toward the cause.

This is one of the cleanest, best playing lefty S-100’s you are likely to find. The guitar was sold to me without a case, and as I never gigged with it I never got around to buying one, but I am happy to purchase a gig bag or hard case of the buyers choice (and expense) if that is preferred for shipping. Otherwise I will ship in an inexpensive gig bag and pack extensively.

I’m in Portland, OR in case there is a local sale possible (and if you’re a lefty in the area, let’s jam!)

Any questions, please let me know. Thanks. This is my first time listing on this forum, so if I’ve missed something obvious, please excuse my rookie error. Thank you!

I'm certainly not the authority on this but I don't think I've ever seen any objection to members posting non-Guild gear for sale. Someone just posted a Les Paul recently, for instance.

Wow, an early version with Hagstrom and a lefty to boot. Good luck with your sale!

Thanks! Reluctant to sell it, and maybe some other stuff will sell so I can keep it, but it’s a killer guitar, and is the guitar that got me into vintage guitars, so it’ll always be special to me. And those early HB-1s have some extra muscle to them. Well over 8k and really drive the amp nicely while still retaining brightness and clarity.

I totally agree. The early HB-1s have a slightly different quality to them from the later ones. The neck pickup on my '71 S-100 with tremar is very thick and warm, the bridge pickup is punchy and twangy with a very vintage sound. Both pickups really growl with some overdrive. The HB-1s on my '75 Starfire II are cleaner and darker.
I LOVE my '71 S-100 and the Hagstrom tremar - highly recommend this model and year. I know some people prefer Guildsbies but not me.

Yes, your descriptions match my S-100 exactly. I have a demo video of it on my YouTube channel, which I’ve also posted on this forum previously. I’ve not played one with a Guildsby, but I am not a huge Bigsby fan. I do agree that the Tremar is very cool and unique.

Hopefully a fellow lefty sees this and finds it a great new home. I can say it’s better now than when I got it, thanks to the refret, so I feel confident that it’ll make someone very happy.

Hi, that is a beautiful piece. I run the Guild left handed guitars page on Facebook and there are a bunch of guys that might be interested. If it's ok....I'll copy the link and post it there. Thanks, John Shannon
