We got lucky here on that storm, it hooked just south of Kansas City. We still ended up with about a foot of snow and the wind was blowing 25-30 mph throughout the whole storm.

The snow pile from shoveling out the driveway:

Not a good day at the office for many......here in the northwest we think it might rain on Thursday, its been a little cool, give or take a bit from 'freezing'...but nowhere near this mess....Steffan

Hi Steffan: I'm assuming you're on the coastal side of the mountains? You guys actually use the word "might" in connection with "rain"? Shouldn't it be"when" ?
Veer alert: Saw a fascinating documentary about Sasquatches last night. Turns out that the climatic conditions in their habitat make it entirely feasible for a primate to survive winters in the upper left coastal corner, as it almost never snows. Another interesting fact was that the map overlay of suitable winter forage area fit right on top of the zone of highest concentration of sightings.
Say....just how big ARE your feet, anyway? :D

That's true... and I've long suspected the guy across the street. He's very large and unusually hairy.

Thanks Sandy, I swear he is the smartest dog I have ever had :)

That's herding dogs for you; sometimes they're a little too smart for their own good!

I was in B.C. a couple years ago and managed to snap a photo of what I believe was one. It is kinda a fuzzy photo, but you can sort of make it out...........

It's a great documentary if you get the chance to seee it. A couple of theories with very strong supporting evidence were offered: Either a true hominid know as "Homo Heidelbergensis", which was (is?) a very tall and strong pre-Neanderthaloid, or an ancient giant ape, of which fossil remains have been found in central China (see, you KNEW THAT'd get my attention! ) in the geographic center of a cluster of asian "Sasquatch", sightings, better known as Yeti...either species could have easily made their way across the Bering land bridge during several periods in the last 10,000 years.
Me, I'm a believer. "Homo Heidelbergensis". The stone-chuckin' Sasquatch.
Them and their relatives're all over the planet. Even in places where it snows. :D

Texas Hill Country Blizzard. As close as we get to one anyway:

We (granddaughter and I) were hoping for three inches. Instead, we got a touch of snow and an inch of ice. All roads closed here...

Thanks for that clip, Ken.
Great piece that just gave me chills when I watched it, even though I've seen all of those scenes many times over.

Lonesome Dove holds a special place on my all-time favorites list, both the book and the movie. Roles of a lifetime for Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall, and just so well done all around. I'll freely admit to sobbing when Augustus was dying in Montana, and I think I do every time!
One of the great ones, for sure.

Happy trails,
Joe
