I'm running low on my shipping boxes. I buy them from Reverb and like them because they are 52" tall so lots of room for packing material. However, Reverb is sold out and it says they are on vacation, whatever that means.

I did come across this link on Ebay for a firm here in Michigan. They are only 50" tall but that will still work. The price is pretty reasonable for anybody looking for good, sturdy shipping boxes and the shipping is free.

Uline.com is another source for boxes (they ones I got from there were tall for bass guitars).

When I need to ship a guitar, I ask at the guitar stores where I shop anyway. One place sends me to their dumpster out back and lets me help myself. Another store -- specializng in high-end acoustic guitars -- keeps all their shipping boxes, which are super strong, and sells them for $5.00 a pop. This was before the lock-down of course.

Always been music store dumpsters or music stores for me. Although buying a guitar can net you a good box if sent in one. Uline boxes seemed to be very popular last year, I can get a part number off one if anybody needs it. 50x20x8 if I remember right, ample box for most guitars, maybe even most basses.

Richard, I'm guessing your closest music store may be in Alpena?

Yes, but it's a junk music store , with little decent merchandise run by a guy I will never do business with or even step inside his store. One of the problems living off the beaten path. I have very few options and CL, at least on this side of the state, nearly always has very little that I'm interested in. So, really my only true option to buy or sell anything musical is on line or on this forum. It's actually worked out pretty decent for me though. I have little to complain about.

I keep meaning to ask the folks at Elderly what brand boxes they use. These boxes use cardboard inserts to suspend the guitar case inside with minimal packing material. Doesn't work with rectangular cases, though.

I’m a hoarder. Got an overflowing supply stacked up in the garage. (Which I can draw from if anyone needs some for the cost of shipping.)

I guess I gotta check and see if Guitar Center is open now. I used my last guitar box to ship the Breedlove and now I'm sorry I threw a box away. I'm nervous if I don't have at least one box, for some unknown reason. Time to hit up GC and see what they can give me. If not I might have to buy one. There are two guitars here that might be for sale sometime, but none of mine. Don's Old classical and also his Martin 12 string, but for now just having a box would make me feel better.

I love the Reverb boxes. A little heavier corrugate than the ones on eBay which I am currently using and the extra 2 inches well need I say more.

I used to buy OEM boxes from a nice guitar store. That is my favorite option.

I go to guitar stores and ask them for them. If they have them they ususally give them to me for free. Just one less thing they have to throw in the dumpster.

In case your nearest guitar store ain't so near, but there's bike shop handy, check out bicycle boxes. They open on the side rather than at the top and bottom, but they work great. There's a bike shop near me and on garbage night there are always several boxes in the recycling. I've nabbed a few over the years.
