Shipping A Guitar

Comment on my "packing tape" handle description - it's flat to the box, but you can slip your hand through it. It's not likely to snag on anything. I simply put a piece of paper under the tape on one side so it doesn't stick to the box. Then write "HANDLE" really big and hope for the best. (One trick - place the handle so the weight is centered.) If nothing else, it helps me carry it to my car.

Makes better sense now, I was visualizing something different.

I've shipped and received a lot of guitars. The best pricing is absolutely FedEx, especially if you have an account with them and print your own labels at home. I "guess" on the weight, which is needed to print a label at home, I just over-guess at 25 pounds with is adequate for any acoustic with hard shell case. When buying a guitar, if the seller wants me to pay shipping, I print and mail a prepaid FedEx label to the seller, it's always cheaper. US Post Office raised their pricing last month.
