Man, am I anxious! Tracking says my blue Westerly JF30-12 is scheduled to arrive today, but FedEx doesn't show that it's "out for delivery" yet. I've had a lot of guitars delivered, but I don't know if I've ever had such anticipation as with this one! I've been in contact with the seller, and he's almost as anxious as I am, haha. I sure hope it stays on schedule! FedEx doesn't deliver on Saturday, or do they?

Yes (I love FedEx ;-) they do deliver on Saturdays, and have for quite a while, since they split Ground into Ground (meaning commercial/business, meaning price break, M/F only) or Home Delivery, which they actually can choose themselves if you're trying to pass a house off as "business" and they don't agree. Home Delivery means Saturday deliveries, and it's just a little bit more money.

If it's Ground it's not coming today, but why would they commit to a date that falls outside of a delivery date for a certain service, wouldn't make sense.

Then there's Murphy...

Thoughts and prayers to the guitar, it's already black and blue all over ;-)

Thanks, and thanks for the info! I guess there's still a chance for today, but it's not looking good. No FedEx update on the delivery since yesterday at 5 pm, when it was in, or passed through, Commerce City, CO. Still just says "in transit." The guitar is coming from Maine, so I expect the delivery would be coming across on US 80. I don't know why they then dropped off US 80 to go down to Commerce City. If the truck then heads back up to 80, it's only about 8 hours away from me, and it should be here. If it made the disastrous decision to take US 70 from there, which normally takes an hour longer than US 80, that could be major problems due to snow, road closures, etc.

Well, that's some consolation (if it doesn't make it today). I just checked, and it is specified as FedEx Home Delivery.

I think initially they said March 11th. In FedEx's "shipment facts," it says "standard transit" is for March 11. However "scheduled delivery" was later updated to March 8th - today! It's now 3 pm here and it still says "in transit." Like I said, it's not looking good.... :grief:

I'd be pretty surprised if it actually stayed on one truck all the way across the country.
Typically this kind of stuff is consolidated from local shipping locations that forward individual shipments to a "hub", into a trailer with other items going in the same general direction to a hub in the destination region, and then transferred from there to local delivery operations running smaller vehicles for end delivery.
That big rig might stop at several hubs on its way across country, picking up and dropping off at each one on the way.
Sometimes the local del8ivery outfits don't update until delivery's actually made.
And that's also why we sometimes see what appears to be screwball zigzag routing when tracking.

Shipping has been a nightmare all winter long, the stuff I got in the mail, I feel really fortunate that it got here.

Well, scheduled delivery is now "pending." Dang! :livid: Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Of course, now it's snowing here like crazy. Fortunately, it's not that cold. Was in the 40s (F) going down to mid 20s tonight. Back to 40 tomorrow.....

Man, that’s a bummer. The anticipation is brutal.

... can’t wait to see the pics and hear about it. I admit I am fascinated by this guitar. Never seen a woodgrain blue before ... so glad I found this place 😀. Learning about all sorts of stuff.

You ain't kidding! This morning FedEx says the guitar is in my city "On FedEx vehicle for delivery," BUT it's also still saying "in transit" and worst of all, "scheduled delivery: Monday 3/11/2019 by end of day." WTF?

As soon as it's a reasonable hour, I'm going to try to get somebody on the phone...

In the past when I had guitars coming in via UPS, I would go online and basically let them know I wanted to pick the package up at their central location, before they put it on a local truck to be delivered to my home. They pretty much got to know me over there, haha.

I've never done that with FedEx. I'm not sure where their central hub is. Of course, there are a lot of these little FedEx affiliated offices where you can drop stuff off, but those aren't hubs. One place is referred to as "FedEx Freight." I wonder if that's it.

I sure don't want to wait till Monday!

Call them now. Same thing happened to me with my F65-CE (also blue). Wound up waiting in the local FedEx hub for the guy in his truck to pull in for a scheduled break and got the guitar with the help of a lot of histrionics.

Well, I got a central FedEx person. She checked the tracking and interpreted it as indicating it was on a truck and would be delivered TODAY. I'm hoping she's right. I'm also going to call the local hub to see if they confirm. They open in 5 minutes....

It is HERE!!! Delivered to my door. Whew, what a relief! The box looks to be in good shape - no gouges or anything. Now I've just got to let it acclimatize for a while. It's about 36 F. outside, so not too bad. The outside of the box is feeling warmer already. I'll not be waiting 24 hours! But I'll wait a few hours before pulling out the case and see how that feels. I'll probably wait a couple more hours after that. The wait is bearable now that the package is in my hands, not excruciating like waiting for it to arrive.

It's a NGD! A new NGD post and pics to follow!
