Today at Trader Joe's--pumpkin ravioli! But I couldn't find that pumpkin pasta sauce to go with it.
Now maybe I could concoct a pumpkin seed pesto...?

Pizzeria Trattoria Acunzo 1964 in Via Domenico Cimarosa in Napoli actually sells "Pizza with pumpkin cream, sausages, sliced/fried pumpkin and crumbled tarallo" ( Pizza con crema di zucca, salsiccia, zucca pastellata e tarallo sbriciolato)

I attended a Tech presentation years ago where data scientists were hard at work mining Twitter, and other social media, for trends that could be exploited commercially. It wasn't too long before silly trends starting popping up everywhere as if the universe suddenly agreed that our hollow souls could be made complete with Pumpkin Spice, ugly Christmas sweaters, and the Hallmark/Kardashian channel. I am convinced more than ever that we are being manipulated by a BOT master hanging out in Mom's basement.

We should make a distinction between things that use pumpkin as an ingredient and things that use "pumpkin spice" as a seasoning (acknowledging, of course, that a pumpkin pie does both). As a cooking ingredient pumpkin can be used in many of the ways a squash can be used. Pumpkin does not add a lot of flavor and generally is a benign addition. Pumpkin spice, on the other hand....
