Hi,

I was offered an S-100 with original Guildsby from 1976
Unfortunately, I have no idea how this S-100 is traded, because otherwise I'm only interested in vintage guild starfire and T-100
The guitar would appeal to me, but I don't know what a fair price would be....?

What do you think?

Thanks, Ben

Any price less than $1500 would be a good to great price in todays guitar market.

If you don't buy it in that price range I'm sure someone on LTG would be interest. That guitar looks to be in excellent condition.

Honestly, these Deluxes are pretty rare nowadays especially in decent shape, so they seem to command pretty high prices. I feel that like M-75s, most asking prices are usually too high. They do pop up occasionally, and I'm surprised to see two for sale right now one on ebay and one on Reverb.

Those Guildsby's were custom modified by Guild specifically for these models, so they're hard to find. It's worth snapping up if you can get it for a reasonable trade or price. I think matsickma's in the right neighborhood, and I might be convinced to go just a touch higher depending on its overall condition -- maybe $1500-1650, especially if it has the OHSC?

No case? With that checking - $1400 tops is all I'd pay, but then I don't *need* it. :)

I don't need it but it is a damn nice specimen! I like the clear pickguard on the natural finish.
If becomes available I would seriously consider bhuying it.

As an aside...does anyone know if Guild ever issued an Oak leaf Carved Deluxe?
That would be a special if their ever was one!

After looking at the Carved S100 against the body of a Deluxe I may not be able to go through with such a modification. Much of the carving that would be covered by adding the Guildsby. A Hagstrom Tremer, on the other hand, would fit in without covering the carving.

Looks to me that it may not be the best idea to add a Guildsby.

A while back someone posted a picture of a carved S100 with a very different carving. I can't remember what it looked like but it wasn't the oak leaf and acorn. Does anyone recall see a S100 with alternative carving?

Hey Hans!

That was it! What a beauty of a S-90 with the Rose's and that pickguard color. I'm suprised that carving was done on such an early model S-90 with the "ash-tray" bridge assembly.

Was that S-90 stock right out of the factory or was it a guitar that was sent back to the factory at a later time for the carving, pickguard change and a refinish?

Tnx,
M

It was a 'Special' from day one. I believe that it was a 'one-off' for which they used a left-over superstructure, simply because in those days nobody at Guild would waste good material. Whether or not it was an experiment or a request I do not know.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
