I just found this guitar on an internet auction. This is the original auction picture ..
The description said: "acoustic guitar + electric guitar, strings and parts missing"

Spent some time examining the picture and decided to take a chance, a little more than $200 and it was mine ..

Welcome and congratulations! You did well! You're going to need some parts, but it will be worth restoring!

As you can see, it has the roller bridge, and the groover tuners. It has the cool pickupswitch and the pots are all there. My guess in bidding was : its a repaired and "punk-era" refinished 1973.

Turns out it has a 1974 serialnumber. 102584, both on the neck and on the inside of the back plastic cover.

But,

There is one mystery! Where is the trussrod?

Someone has taken off the veneer with the Guild logo, and done some "funny" repairjob.
The neck has been off, and repaired, it must have taken a beating ...

The hardware along could probably fetch $200.

Going to enjoy watching this one!
That´s what I thought when bidding as well, pity there are only 5 original tuners ...
I´ll keep em coming, scraping off the black paint currently ..
Brown original paintjob won't be possible to save.. And that trussrod thing is worrying me a little, I need the trussrod working ..

Nothing like troweling out the truss rod cavity. :) Yeah, you have a lot of work ahead, Ppolfeldt, but hopefully it'll be a labor of love.

Also, the classical looks pretty nice. Time to learn "Classical Gas" so you can at least pretend to be a classical player. :D

Oh, and by the way, welcome aboard!

They look cool on old, blonde Gibsons, but on anything else they scream "I'm hiding a headstock break".

You can see a lot of stingers on Super 400's and Les Paul Customs. What they're really hiding (with a veneer) is grafting to super-size the headstock.

Day 3 -
Some oilbased paint ”rosewood”
Stringing it up and mounted a pickup with the one frame I have that fit. The gibson and epiphone frames are too small.
It plays well. Electronics work perfect. The home made wooden nut isnt very good, and unfortunately very firmly glued in place..
Tomorrow a trip to my friend Per Sonnerup, the luthier, who builds acoustics. He’ll help me with the nut and give me advice on the headstock repair.

Qustion to anyone out there in guild country:
The bridge has some movement it sort of toggles a little forwards/backwards
It seems the metal in the lug that holds it has some wear.
Anyone experience this?
