Rosewood vs mahogany?

I know, that's a weird thread title. I recently took my Carvin SH225 (on the left) out of the case and, for some reason, stuck my nose in the f-hole. I was immediately transported back to the church I went to as a child. Wooden pews. Weird right? I haven't been to that church in 40 years...

My '65 D-50 braz. came with a musty smell, but was due to a musty case. After transferring the guitar to a new case, and keeping it out in the room for some time, the musty odor coming from the guitar has disappeared. Can't say I can smell the braz., but my smell capacity has been gone for a long time.

I have an old dread with solid rosewood back and sides (not a Guild), it has amazing tone. I too hear Mahogany as a bit warmer and less loud.
