I never got to see Wilko play; would of seen him at Glastonbury in 2014, but he had to cancel due to surgery to remove the cancer that had been expected to kill him some time earlier.
His real name was John Wilkinson, but he changed it around as there were too many Johns in Dr Feelgood! The line-up was Wilko Johnson (John Wilkinson) - Guitar, John B. Sparks - Bass, The Big Figure (John Martin) - Drums and Lee Brilleaux (Lee John Collinson) - Vocals.

Demonstrating his technique

Game of Thrones, demonstrating that he could use a sword almost as well as an axe! One of Sean Bean's many deaths.

Ah merde!
Here is an amazing vid from an impromptu gig Dr Feelgood played in a small schoolyard, in Pithiviers back in 1976. This town is about 30 miles from Orléans, and I have been teaching in schools like this one. Pithiviers may well be the French Dogpatch...I have no clue why on earth this event took place....Nowadays, the teachers would probably get fired....This band was not only in it for the money!! RIP Wilko, I loved your style!

The Dr Feelgood documentary is highy recommended. A lot of fun, whether you're a fan of the band or not. Anyone who's ever been in band will relate.

When we recorded our one and only album in 2014, our producer was Dave Eringa, who produced Going Back Home.

Apparently when he found out we were going to record in the Manics, then Cardiff, studio, he wanted to produce us as he 'liked working with old men'.

Great producer who loved to capture a live feeling in the studio. We did 9 tracks in 3 days. It was really 2 and a half days, as the first morning was spent micing up the drums.

Never met Wilko, but he came across as a nice chap. Met Roger, back in 66 and he was the only sane one in the Who back then.
