Troy Gentry Better known as half of the Country Duo Montgomery Gentry Died today as the result of a Helicopter crash in New Jersey at the age of 50. He was on his way to a performance scheduled for the group this evening. RIP Troy, Always loved your music and my heart is with your Family and Friends. Such a sad day for Country Music losing Don Williams and Troy Gentry in the same day in Separate Circumstances.

Very sad, indeed. Troy Gentry's death in that crash is just awful...God bless his family.

I am sorry to hear of Don Williams passing, as well. Did you get to see him live in his later years? Didn't he stay active, performing, up until really recently?

He did stay pretty active in his later years Christopher. The best time I saw Don Williams was at The Texas Rose Hall in Alvin, Texas around 95 or 96. It was a Hellish rain storm that night so a lot of people couldn't make the show. Ended up being only about 200 of us in a 40,000 square foot dance hall. It was almost like getting a private show. 2 solid hours of listening to one of the Masters at an arms distance and then getting to talk with him after the show for a bit. That was way before I ever started playing seriously or even writing. One of my Favorites memories of all time. There will never be another Voice like Don's, so smooth and nonchalant until you try to replicate it and realize very few can. I will be playing Don all night tonight for sure.
