Susan Jacks has passed away at the age of 73.
She had been a member of The Poppy Family with her singer-songwriter husband, Terry Jacks, leader of the late 60s Vancouver-based Canadian group. Terry Jacks and The Poppy Family were apparently a large influence on Kurt Cobain. Cobain allegedly liked Jacks and The Poppy Family when he was a kid. You can sometimes hear echoes of Jacks' melodic phrasing in Cobain's vocals.
Susan Jacks, was co-lead singer in the group. An old friend whom I long ago lost track of once played guitar and sang backing vocals for a short while in one of her solo touring bands, or so he claimed. He said she was a major sweetheart.
