Oh, darn! Well, there are several CF manufacturers out there, but I think Rainsong was the last holdout from the original small group of innovative companies that built these things.

Might have to get Rainsong 12 before they go away!

Played one about 20 years ago. Though it was quite nice, if a bit 'different' sounding. Just couldn't get on with the neck. I could also imagine the black ones would get really hot in outdoor gigs.

That's an interesting thought, Rocky. I've never heard anyone complain about black guitars getting hot in the sun. I'd be more worried if this were a wood guitar, but the CF guitars are not a concern (unless you mean about burning the musician!) :D

A little of both. I'm sure the guitar itself would be fine, but I might have a concern about tuning stability. I know I want to keep my black guitar cases out of the sun, and this was just an extension of that.

I've only heard that CF guitars are rock solid tuning-wise. As far as keeping black guitar cases out of the sun, I think, like anything, it's a matter of avoiding extremes. But, all good!

Canada .... brrr
Wow as Adamas player myself I thought that the future of acoustic guitars was with synthetic materials, and Rainsong certainly is one of the main brands. I am surprised that no one else is continuing with the company.

I’m a bit surprised that another company didn’t buy the company name, designs, goodwill, etc. I thought Rainsong has/had a pretty good reputation and following.

Maybe it's a niche market for carbon fiber guitars so the economics aren't strong.

Did you know they made these. Full on hollow Jazzboxes. I bought these when they came out ~ less than 100 made.
Sad to see them go. Great guitar company pushing forward the art of Guitar.

Very sad to see them go. I bought an S-DR1000N2 back in 2014 for an insanely cheap price that I sold to get a CA Cargo that would fit on a plane, and I regret it. It was a terrific guitar, and I think the satin finish Rainsongs sound best to my ear.

This is a bummer. David Wilcox and Shawn Colvin played these at some point and I was pleasantly surprised. Never had the privilege of playing one.

Alas...there was an electric 12 string...maybe custom...used...for sale locally some time ago...I wasn't in a position to buy...it was from the original Hawaiian days.

Even when the company changed they were still very nice to visit and chat with at NAMM.

Too bad they couldn't sell it to anyone to continue the legacy.

There are several new(er) companies doing really cool things with composites. It is a shame to see one of the originals go away. I think of Rainsong as the "Martin" of the CF guitars. Peavey bought CA a while back, but I guess Rainsong didn't have a buyer.

I've done a couple of outdoor gigs where that happens, Glenn. Haven't you? Or do you keep everything cased until you perform?
