I just heard about this, and it's bittersweet news indeed. She had a massive brain hemorrhage in Jan. 2010 and never really recovered. Also never really recovered from the 2007 death of her severely disabled daughter Valerie, whom she was devoted to, even at the expense of her career. A woman with a huge four octave range, and an equally big heart. :(

She was so talented, one can't help but wonder what if things had played out differently? Such a difficult choice she had to make. RIP Phoebe.

Very sad to hear this too. What a lovely and classy lady she was.
I'll put her music on today in her honour, and just wallow in the good memorys.
Seem to be doing quite a bit of that lately..Gary Moore, Gerry Rafferty,...... :(

Watching your friends and heroes die is one of the "pleasures" of growing old John. If you do it well enough (like my mom's best girlfriend), you end up all by yourself.

Ain't life grand?

A very musical lady, with one of the most distinctive voices in music, she was faced with some of the most gut-wrenching decisions a person can go through. My respect for her as a singer is only matched by my respect for her as a human being. I think she made the right choices. RIP dear lady...... Tom in Vegas <there's no emoticon for how I feel>

@ Sandy, this is very true. It's a very Wizard of Oz way of looking at things.
Wicked Witch of the West: The last to go will see the first three go before her. And her little dog too.
Longevity has it's price...... Tom in Vegas
