And another good one leaves us. I didn't even know he was ill. What a fine folk musician he was. He played anything with strings and a few things without.
I cut a few of my own musical teeth with NLCR early on in the late 60s-70s. :(

What a loss! I have lost a friend...........
I am ever so glad I had a chance to see Mike one last time recently.

Mike was at the fairwell concert of the New Lost City Ramblers in Wilmington, DE not long ago. It was great show!....... Then I had a chance to play some autoharp with him at George Orthey's place in Newport, PA not long ago after the Friday concert. Mike was not strong and the two nights of concerts he did for George's autoharp concert series (Friday and Saturday) had him visably tired by the end of Saturday's concert. We did not jam late Saturday, for Mike was too tired. I knew he was not well then. But, I did not know he had cancer or that it was as far along asit must have been. He was a folk singer 'till the end!
