An amazing talent that truly helped shape music for many, many generations. My wife and I were lucky enough to see him perform a couple of years ago in NY. For a great insight catch this documentery that came out a couple of years ago: "Chasing Sound: Les Paul at 90". Might be at the library or on Netflix or worth owning for about 15 bucks from Amazon or PBS.

Very well said by all of you, and I would like to add my own thanks for all of Les’s contributions in the music world.

Inventor of the solid body electric..........what more can you say? Imagine the music we'd have missed without him. Oh, I'm sure someone would have come along and invented it, but what would we have missed?

Yep! Les did it all AND DID IT WELL!! How about better than well!

Les Paul - Inventor.......How many others have a type of Guitar named after them that they invented.....within their own life-time?

Les Paul & Mary Ford........great Duo!

Les Paul - Solo Guitarist.......How many others have a type of Guitar playing style named after them that they invented.....within their own life-time?

When Les Paul was asked who his guitar hero was many years ago, Les replied, "Slim Bryant." Slim brought Jazz chords to country muisc.....Country Swing, Western Swing, Country Rock, and who knows what else! Thomas Hoyt "Slim" Bryant is 100 years old now and can still play his L-5 Gibson from 1932. Slim was also my next door neighbor and guitar teacher when I was growing up. He never thought he'd out-live Les and is sad to hear of Les's passing.
