What a long and great life. I'm just glad I had a chance to see one of his gigs at the Iridium, one of my most cherished live music memories.

Les Paul - Solo Guitarist.......How many others have a type of Guitar playing style named after them that they invented.....within their own life-time?

When Les Paul was asked who his guitar hero was many years ago, Les replied, "Slim Bryant." Slim brought Jazz chords to country muisc.....Country Swing, Western Swing, Country Rock, and who knows what else! Thomas Hoyt "Slim" Bryant is 100 years old now and can still play his L-5 Gibson from 1932. Slim was also my next door neighbor and guitar teacher when I was growing up. He never thought he'd out-live Les and is sad to hear of Les's passing.
