One of my Favorite all time singers and songwriters passed away earlier today. Earl Thomas Conley died today at the age of 77. I grew up on his music in a time where he was right at home along side the likes of Conway Twitty, Don Williams, and other Country Artists of the late 70's/early 80's. The man had a voice that sounded like spun silk and a way with words that was all of his own. Some of my favorites of his were "I Can't Win For Losing You" as well as "Holding Her And Loving You" not to mention the duet he did with Keith Whitley before Whitley's untimely death "Brotherly Love". He Charted over 30 singles with 18 number one hits throughout his career.

Rest in Peace E.T.C. and thanks for all of the memory making music.

I love me some Don Williams, T.G. Shepard, Eddie Rabbit, Ed Bruce, John Conlee, Eddie Raven, Crystal Gale, Dolly Parton, Lorreta Lynn etc... That to me was the golden age of Country Music. Everyone had their own sound and they were all great to me. Not to knock on today's Country Artists but 95% of them all sound the same to me. Earl Thomas Conley was one of those Generational voices in that you knew who you were listening to from the first word of a song you heard them sing. At least to me anyways.
