I have some old picks (pics if I can find one) that have a hole drilled in the center that's surrounded by a circle of cork-like material.
They're OK but the fact that I can't find one means that I don't use 'em very often. :?

When I drop a pick inside a guitar, I stop the music and get it out right away. That's one of those classic burr under the saddle things that I'd rather deal with now than later.
Plus, I'm also able to retrieve any stray dollar bills that might have found their way inside.

I use "Cat Tongue" picks or "Brain" picks. They're rough like a cat's tongue, they almost "grip" your finger and thumb. I like the 1.0- 1.3mm for acoustic guitar and 1.5mm for electric guitar and mandolin.

Wonder what this guy uses? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxf6QuhGqiY

I've been working a 1.5mm dunlop here lately....it's taking some time to get used to going from a heavy fender pick but I'm liking the results...I've also noticed, as mentioned here and elswhere, the effect that string guage has on the overall results. And it's weird...my right arm/elbow doesn't hurt anymore...now it's the left one....hmmm
