Richie's passing has affected me more than just about any entertainer in recent memory. I can't help but get emotional about this over and over. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think his completely unique playing style and voice, and really the person that he was were simply always present and never tarnished during his entire career. You just don't have to be a Guild lover to appreciate that, but it's particularly painful for us Guildphiles to lose such an amazing ambassador of peace.

What an amazing guy.

I think I saw a thread about his passing over at AGF. He's well appreciated even by non Guildphiles. Makes me wish I discovered him and his music sooner. I'm kinda embarrassed to say that the first time I read his name anywhere was when I was checking out acoustics at the Guild website (I saw the D40 Richie Havens Signature Model.)

A few months later, someone made a thread about him here. A few weeks later, he passed away. :(
