Go ahead and give Teddy Randazzo a call. He will be happy to assist you in getting the correct pickup, and if you have someone do the installation, have them call Teddy too.

I wrote a song late into the night this week and just wanted to get a recording down so I'd remember it. Plugged my D 35 into my MOTU Track 16 and recorded it. No pre, no direct box, no effects, just the guitar straight in. Sounded really good.

I have three Dazzo equipped guitars. The one Lyric equipped guitar I have may go that route too.

Just as an add on, I have a really good sounding Martin M 36. Rich and lush is how I'd describe it. Classic Martin tone. I was swapping back and forth between it and the D 35. These are so tonally different it kind of shocked me. Going from the Martin to the Guild, the Guild just sounded brittle. It takes a few minutes for the ears to adjust to the dryness and the balance of the D 35. There is a seductiveness to the rosewood Martin sound for sure. Overtones are bouncing around all over the room.

Only after a period of adjustment do your ears start to appreciate the dry woodyness of a hog back and sides, and the clarity of a non hyped bass. I'm not a fan of the modern D 18 for this reason, but I can see how it sells a lot of guitars.

Glad I have both the m 36 and the D 35.
