Does anyone replace the wooden bridge on their Guild with a compensating bridge? I'm getting a X-170 tomorrow in trade it has a wooden bridge. Was wondering if there is any advantage in the wooden bridge over a compenasting bridge.

Hi JZ,

Would you be refering to a Gibson style tune-o-matic bridge? BTW, I love my 170 - quite a versatile guitar. The narrower neck takes a bit to get use to. That is, transitioning from my 150 and 500. Sorry I can't advise on using another style bridge. My X's all have the wooden bridges.

Enjoy your new trade!

Thanks for the reply. This is a great guitar! After adjusting the stock bridge and a new set of strings, I found the intonation was almost spot on. FYI. I got a call last week from the guy who I traded my '62 RI Strat to and he loves it. I guess it was a good trade for both of us, looks like a I made a new friend too. :D
