If the preamp is OK I'll drop in the 6550 power amp section from a Quantum.
Mr. No-Electrical-Training asks: Isn't the reverb powered by a separate power amp section?
Hi John; the separate reverb amp circuit board from the earlier Thunderbird - the 'dinette' model - was dispensed with in this later model. See pic #2 at the front of this thread.

The reverb can is separate but the 6GW8 reverb tube (formerly 6BM8 in early TBirds and T1 RVTs) is now integrated into the 'control / preamp' chassis in this model. Also and based on the not-exactly-matching ThunderStar 'lead' schematic (split chassis, 7591s), the reverb can is coupled to the circuit by a small, impedance-matching transformer, like Fender, rather than a speaker as Guild did with the T1 RVT and earlier model Thunderbird.

Check out this part (PLG-8-P1) and let me know if this is a standard octal plug to fit a 6L6/EL34 tube socket? This is the type of part I'll need to build the new harness. http://www.radiodaze.com
Hey Mike; this might help w/ the chassis-to-chassis cabling:

Can be found at Surplus Sales of Nebraska 6' long, male pins already on both ends; this could work! John

Hi capn,

That looks very tempting. I wonder what gauge wire is used? It would be perfect if it can handle the current. I'll check the preamp wires to see the gauge.

Thanks,

M
