Posted here because I'm not the one playing.

My friend Jimmy Lee Robbins stopped by with a gaggle of guitars to talk and play last night. Yes, there are Guilds in the mix but the videos aren't posted yet. Here Jimmy is using his 1975 Gurian Jumbo, what an amazing instrument. I'll post more to my YouTube as I have them ready, including some fooling around with my Guild D40 which much more than holds its own among some heavyweights.

These are impromptu, unprepared, unrehearsed songs - raw, with mistakes, and a lot of fun!

Here's a Gurian Jumbo on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280809989136+. There's some good information about Gurian toward the bottom of the ebay posting.

Gurian guitars used a mortise-tenon neck attachment with two tapered pins to draw the joint tight similar to a post & beam structure. Neck re-sets are a lot simpler on these than the Guild tapered dovetail.

Willy,
I was just visiting in Colorado a few weeks ago. I went to a good open mic at the "Ice House" in Evergreen, CO on Thursday nights. Its right next door to the world reknown "Lttle Bears". There is actually some competition to play in the open mic (what?, go figure). A player needs to call to reserve a sopt by 9 AM on Thursday morning.

Most of the performers are not bad, but I didn't see one Guild in 3 times going.

If you are ever interested in going I can let you know some folks that are friendly, and great to meet there.

Thanks Craig, Little Bear is an icon. My favorite local band (Dakota Blonde) plays there some but I only see them when they're down in my area about an hour and a half from Little Bear. I completely lack the confidence and skill set for an open mic at the moment, but I will add that to my list of places for entertainment.

The number of performers playing Guild is pretty limited, I rarely see them except around my home or with friends.
