My recently acquired D15 has been a joy to play.
For years I've played only 12 strings and electrics. I haven't owned a 6 for years, but I decided to give this one a go and I am just thrilled. A surprising number of my songs sound just as good on it as they do on my 12s, plus its much easier to play them.
I'm still primarily a 12 string guy but this is the first 6 in a while that I've enjoyed playing and hearing.

There's no doubt that the D16 is well made and fun to play, and that the arch3d back and mahogany top give it a distinctive voice. I'm glad you found a 6-string that makes you happy,

That's D15, of course. Sorry. My eyesight is very poor, so typos are a given.

I don’t doubt that, just looking at it I feel like it would sound amazing. Sounds like you have become Guildstruck! Glad you are enjoying the Guild, and maybe there are many more in your future. :)

I so love the natural color of mahogany that I'm always bummed at how often manufacturers stain them. I wish my Martin 000-15M was this color.

Ditto this!! The natural colors of mahogany are wonderful in their own right. The tradition of dark staining must have some reasonable origin. My (wild) guess is that the pore fillers that they used to have didn't offer an opportunity to get a nice natural look. My second guess is that since mahogany was so widely used in furniture maybe they used dark stains to cover some of the wood grain that didn't fit with the pre-1960's consumers.

I have an early '60s Favilla classical that has a dark, almost reddish finish. The bare wood which shows through the finish chips is quite beautiful to me!

Guild D15s are great guitars. I have a 6 and 12 string version and find myself picking them up more often than my other dreads.

Wow, nice! Enjoy the break from the 12ers! (Reminds me, I've got to pull out my F50R more often.)

You can be consoled by the fact that the 000-15 is an amazing guitar.

It’s been liberating to play a 6 and I’m surprised at how full it sounds.
I’m still a 12 string guy, just a little less fixedly.
