That is indeed a great version. I love that pedal steel. I wish Willie always had one. BTW, when I saw him live, he had Grady Martin with him, who played the guitar licks on Marty Robbins's "El Paso" and "Big Iron."

I'd give (almost) anything to be able to play steel; but then I have a hard enough time trying to play a guitar...

Non-pedal steel (see Cindy Cashdollar) isn't much harder to play than dobro. It's when you get foot pedals and knee levers that the instrument becomes almost impossible to master.

There was a fella playing a pedal steel (really well) at the Arlington Guitar show last October. I just stood in awe and enjoyed the man's awesome contributions to a very nice day...
